Central Michigan lands Arielle Wilson as coach
Penn State great out of Proviso East gets her first shot at guiding a program with the MAC school
Penn State great and Chicago-area native Arielle Wilson landed a highly promising gig in her first time at the helm of a collegiate program. Central Michigan went 24-7, 15-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
A Proviso East product, Wilson was a key member of Russ Rose's legendary Penn State squads that won four NCAA titles, including the 2008 champions that went 38-0, didn't drop a set during the regular season, and is considered by many the best collegiate women's volleyball team in history. Arielle was the 2007 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a three-time AVCA All-American (2008-10).
Her college coaching stops include an assistant's job at DePaul in 2016-17. For the last two seasons, she served as the defensive and recruiting coordinator at Missouri. The Tigers earned NCAA Tournament berths both years, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2024.
Last but not least, I had the privilege of working multiple summer camps with Wilson during the time I coached in the City Lions club program.
